We have already posted stories about Aston Martin reviving the Lagonda luxury brand, but the particular product information provided has been mostly speculation. Now, we are staring to get real details from the Indian-owned English carmaker.According to Julian Jenkins, general manager of Aston Martin North America, the Lagonda will share a lot in common with the Astons. Lagondas will make use of the VH platform, which was developed by Ford and currently underpins all of Aston’s cars. Also the first production Lagonda will appear in 2011 and be a more expensive variation on the upcoming Rapide.
The second sedan from Lagonda is considered to be more original and should appear in 2012 (a concept should be ready by 2009 for Lagonda’s 100th anniversary.) It is looking to be a direct competitor to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and will cost round $100,000. “Lagonda will stand as a brand in its own right,” said Jenkins. “We didn’t want to make Lagonda into a softer Aston, or an Aston with a luxury pack.”
